Books: Confession of an Addict

I have two confessions to make:
          1.    I’m not a Book-A-Holic. I’m a Book-Addict. Disgusting, right?
          2.    I can’t believe it’s coming soon! [31st May] (Maybe not that soon after all…)

See the pretty Cinderella-like book cover? [Patience, you’ll see it after a few more sentences]
Everybody please sit tight as I’m going to introduce "Just Like Heaven" by one of my favourite authors.

Guess who’s she?

XXXXX XXXX >>>>>> Julia Quinn.

Just Like Heaven is a historical regency novel (circa 1805-1840) featuring Honoria Smythe-Smith and Marcus Holroyd.

Our Heroine
Honoria is a granddaughter of the Earl of Winstead. Unfortunately for her, she is forced to play violin in the “notorious” annual Smythe-Smith Musicale, of which she is the only one in the quartet who freely admits they are dreadful (Ouch, poor Mr Mozart). Enough is enough when she decidedly wants to get out of it by going after the last Bridgerton bachelor, Gregory Bridgerton.

Our Hero
Marcus is the Earl of Chatteris and best friend to Honoria’s brother, David. While David is in exile, Marcus promised David to take care of Honoria. However, when Honoria decides to get married at the end of the season, Marcus’s heart nearly failed him as it dawned on him – that he is desperately, inevitably and irrevocably in love with Honoria.

One thing I absolutely love about Julia’s stories is the way she weaves all her individual works together into a big tapestry of masterpiece, all interconnected to each other. Like in “Just Like Heaven”, Gregory Bridgerton has been previously featured in “On the way to the Wedding”.

I really like the idea of old characters from previous works making a cameo in new ones. I feel like in this way, these characters are not being forgotten and we as readers can see how they are holding up in the future timeline. In same cases, we readers even get a sneak peek at these characters before their own featured stories.

The most rewarding part of it all, is to be able to see Julia’s work in a bigger picture, and how all characters are linked to one another in mysterious ways.
And so I have come to only one conclusion – people, I highly recommend you to read Julia’s novels because they’re not only about romance. They are funny and witty, and you don’t want to miss out on them.

P.S. Julia, please write more.

Fast facts:
ü A best-selling American historical romance author.
ü Amusingly dedicates her books to her husband, Paul: “And for Paul, even though he wants me to call the sequel Everything and Baboon” from “Everything and the Moon”.
ü Started writing her first book one month after finishing college [Aww… I really admire her!]
ü Style of writing is very witty and humorous. [So, if you see me laughing suddenly while reading her books, please don’t be alarmed. (Chuckles)]

Wow, I think if I do that, both my parents will kill and chop me up.

  4. Sort of like a tribute.

Can't believe you haven't started reading.yet. [Ouch! You stab my heart + Julia's heart too.]

But then as I said, don't judge a book with it's cover. I don't quite like the one you bought. [Shrug]

Well, as WE both know, writing a story needs Time+Strength. Not easy when you're constantly worrying over exams+studies.

Still,I kinda like your idea though.
